Our Shirts Are Almost Famous

June 1st, 2009

Last week You Design It had the honor of printing some shirts for MTV staff members attending the MTV Movie Awards. They wanted a saying printed on them that was an inside joke for an upcoming movie being released. We were glad to do them in short notice (got the order on Wednesday night) and shipped them to Cali for a Saturday delivery, the day before the awards show. That is a two-day turnaround for those of you scoring at home.

Lauren and I tuned in to the show on Sunday night and looked everywhere for our printed tees. We didn’t see them at all. Wah wah wahhhhhh.

But….I got an email today from our client at MTV showing us a screen shot that he’d received showing one of their group wearing one of the shirts. It took me a second to realize what part of the show this was. Yes sir! Our half second screen shot was right before Bruno landed on Enimem. Take a look at the diagram:

I am now so proud of our little t-shirt being so close to such an epic moment. I feel like a father whose son has just learned to ride a bike.

Ryan Reynolds or Burt Reynolds?

May 29th, 2009

There was a lot of chatter in the comments section of the Memorial Weekend Didn’t Disappoint post that featured a pic of BP regular - Shaun Seago. There were a few shots sent his way about the pinkness of his skin, the wrinkles, etc. While I feel like these rips were unjust, Shaun quickly defended himself with this comment:

“It just keeps gettin better. I just got a call from Ryan Reynolds agent and they want me to be his look a like.”

I responded with a comment about his confusion between Ryan Reynolds and Burt Reynolds. Then I started thinking that maybe I was wrong and that I was the one that was confused. I think it’s only fair to leave it up to you guys to judge.  Here’s a pic of Ryan Reynolds and Shaun:

I can see some resemblance but Shaun’s hair has a little too much tease to it and the pornstache is outdated. Nevertheless, there’s no doubt they are both devilishly handsome. However, I think this next picture speaks for itself. I bring to you…Burt and Shaun:

The proof is in the pudding my friends. If they aren’t doppelgangers, then I don’t know who is. Someone might want to get a DNA check to prove they weren’t separated at birth.

Brent Kyle and Drew Barrymore

May 27th, 2009

I have to interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring to you a pic of a local celebrity.  Well, I can’t actually post the pics or the screen shots of the site because of internet copyright issues but I can give you the link to check it out. It’s Brent Kyle marching with his BFF/Boss - Drew Barrymore - at the Prop 8 protest rally last night. Pretty cool stuff….

There’s more to come later this week….

Memorial Weekend Home Run Derby ‘09

May 21st, 2009

Get ready people, it’s going to be a good weekend. For starters,  I would like to formally announce

“THE 1st ANNUAL COED LAKE SAM RAYBURN MEMORIAL WEEKEND HOME RUN DERBY CONTEST FOR PEOPLE WHO SWING FOR THE FENCES AND ENJOY WEEKENDS”

There are quite  a few 2-person teams signed up for the event considering there is a $5,000 cash prize for the 2nd place team and the grand prize winner gets an all expenses paid month-long vacation to Bora Bora. Just a little something we thought we would throw in there to make things interesting.

There is still time to sign up and if you are a feeling intimidated, don’t be. I have put together a little scouting report of the current entries. Here goes:

  • David and Morgan Hinds - no threat here. If sweating is involved and the hair/makeup/guyliner gets messed up….these two are out like hair follicles on Shaun Seago’s head.
  • Tyler and Ashley Bearden - these two have about as much game as Rooks Richard at a nightclub. Expect some hamstrings to be pulled with this team even with no running involved.
  • Darren and Noemi Poutra - city meets country with this duo. They may not be able to play since the game will be on grass and not concrete
  • Tommy Jack and Gabrielle Thompson - you can count on them having the newest equipment and latest technology. It won’t help if you can’t hit the ball.
  • Mike and Gwen Poutra - high school harry and his wife. She is the talent on the team and that speaks volumes.
  • Brad and Carlis Roy - also known as the Bridge City Bayou Monkeys. They might just be the sleepers in this tourney.
  • Blake and Lauren Poutra - shouldn’t even be allowed in the tournament. Dead ringers. Bora Bora or bust.
  • Mike and Nikki Albanese - these two newlyweds might get in their first wedded spat from the poor performance they are about to give.
  • Amber and Rons Hinds-Williams - no problem. They can’t grasp the concept of “over the fence” and not “build a fence”.
  • Chewy and Lisa Mathews - don’t stand a chance. Chews hasn’t picked up a bat since little league. That includes the four years he was DH’ed for in high school.
  • Brian and Mandy Mazzola - sorry, we aren’t swinging rackets. Leave your tennis skirt at home Big El.

Some of you may not have realized you were signed up for this glorious event. Well…now you know. The game will be held at La Posada on Sunday morning before lunch. Every team that plays will receive complimentary matching his/hers diamond tennis bracelets courtesy of Mathews Jewelers. God Bless America!

Brandi and Warren’s Wedding, Part 2

May 13th, 2009

As I am sure you’ve heard by now, there was a lot going on at this wedding. One of the best parts were the show stopping dance numbers on the dance floor underneath the tent that made Barnum and Bailey’s Circus jealous. You can’t argue with moves like these:

However, in typical Big David Hinds fashion, dancing was just a side act to the “main event”. He had actually booked one of the most anticipated prize fights in the history of organized wedding fights. His show card featured the ruthless Nacho Daddy Jumping Bean Bearden versus the stone cold Wai Yu So Tan Poutra.

The fight was as amazing as the wedding and the fans weren’t disappointed. We all learned a valuable lesson that night…don’t bring boxing gloves to a swordfight.

R.I.P. Nacho Daddy Jumping Bean Bearden, you were a brave soul.
